Spring has (almost) Sprung – Refresh your Mani/Pedi

I love this time of year. The days are getting longer, the weather is starting to warm up (well, here and there since we do live in New England! It’s supposed to be 70 today, but could stay cold until April, ya never really know!) and I love to start adding in Springtime pieces to my wardrobe, refresh my hair, and start rocking some Spring nails!

Are you a Mani/Pedi matcher? I am definitely not that. RARELY do I have the same color on my fingers and toes. I also find that in the Springtime I tend to do a little crazier match ups. Bright colors and pastels. Matchy matchy or opposites… Bright colors with black. Bright colors with WHITE! Oh, I get so excited to bring white back into my life around this time of year. Yes, white is more acceptable during the Winter months these days than it used to be, but I still like to give it a little break until the weather heats back up. Really, any color combination, whether it matches or it doesn’t, I’m here for it.

I tend to stick with pretty traditional nails, sometimes throw in an accent nail here and there, but I think it’s also fun to play with trends in the Spring. Recently I did some leopard print, and different colors on my two hands (a grayish purple and light gray). My nails were longer and almond shaped and it looked great and was super fun. We’re all coming out of hibernation status, and I think this time of year is when all the fun stuff starts to happen. I am seeing all kinds of trends floating around. Let’s talk about what’s hot for nail trends in Spring 2020:

COLORS IDEAS TO ACHIEVE THESE LOOKS

Some spins on the classic French manicure for one. Adding a little something extra towards the bottom of the nail bed or trying a different shaped tip has been spotted. And colored tips are everywhere right now, although that one is always one I have trouble with. Maybe I’ll try it this year! What color should I do??

Another trend I have seen a ton of, is adding a little embellishment to one or all of your nails, such as a little heart, dots, or little gems. This isn’t particularly NEW, but I think the trend has slightly changed. The “accent nail” is still holding it’s own, too, although has moved from being strictly a ring finger trend to landing on any finger! Different colored polish, or one of these embellishments are gracing any of the five fingers!

The other one that I am living for right now is floral design. There have been so many pretty (and dainty) floral designs that I have seen out there. On one finger, on multiple. Same color scheme, different pretty flowers. It’s super trendy, and can be quite intricate. I usually do my own nails, but may just have to get myself to a salon to get this done!!

I’ve linked up a ton of color options for y’all to achieve these looks at home. And let’s not forget my favorite top coats:

Cina Top Coat – will keep your mani looking perfect for a FULL week if not longer. I like to use this over my first coat of polish, then second coat of polish, and top with Essie Gel Setter. The Essie top coat helps the mani last, also, but really I love the shine it gives. If you’re feeling the matte look, I like Essie’s Matte About You top coat also. It definitely doesn’t seal the mani in the same way, though, so you’ll chip a little more easily. Just a warning!

So what are your thoughts on the trends? What’s your favorite? Do you go for brights or pastels in the Spring? Tell me I wanna know!
